Weather in London during October 2007
Dry and rather cool
Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during October 2007 in Morden was 15 Celsius (59F), and that was a fraction of a degree below average.  The average minimum temperature was 7 Celsius (45F), and that was over 1 Celsius (1.8F) below average. This was the coolest October since 2003. 

The highest temperature recorded  during the month was 19.3 Celsius (67F) on the 14th, and this was 1 of 11 days during the first 16 days when the maximum temperature exceeded 17 Celsius (63F). After the 16th, there were no days with highs above 16 Celsius (61F). There were several cool days during the fourth week, and the high on the 25th was only 10.1 Celsius (50F).  

There were no outstandingly warm nights during October, but minima were above 10 Celsius (50F) on 10 nights, only 1 of which occurred during the last fortnight.. There were 3 nights with lows above 13 Celsius (55F), including a minimum of 13.7 Celsius (57F) on the 13th. The air temperature fell below 5 Celsius (41F) on 9 nights during the month, but only once before the 18th. On both the 21st and 23rd the minimum temperature was below freezing, with minus 0.6 Celsius (31F) recorded on the 21st.    

Frost

Air frost occurred on 2 nights, the 21st and 23rd, and there were 9 ground frosts. There was a ground frost on 7 consecutive nights from the 18th to the 24th, and on the 23rd the grass temperature fell to minus 5.7 Celsius (22F). On average, there are 6 ground frosts and 1 air frost during October.

Rain

This was a dry month,  with the 37 millimetres (1.5 inches) recorded only amounting to  50% of the October average. Nearly 7 millimetres of rain fell on the 1st, one of only 4 days during October when more than 1 millimetre of rain fell. The last time this happened during October was in 1995. The 9th was a very wet day with nearly 20 millimetres (0.8 inches) of rain falling, but during the last 3 weeks of the month only 10 millimetres of rain fell, and from the 17th to the 24th there was no measurable rain.

No thunderstorms occurred. 

Wind

Winds were unusually light  with 8 evenings when the wind fell flat calm. Directions were variable with 8 occasions of northeasterly winds just exceeding the 7 days with southwest winds predominating. On the 26th, no gusts during the day exceeded 4 knots (5mph). Gusts of over 20 knots (23mph) occurred only only 4 days, including a gust of 23 knots (26mph) from the southwest on the 28th.

Fog

There was dense fog for a while on the 11th, but it lifted and cleared by late morning. No other fog was observed.
