Weather in London during September 2007

A dry month with temperatures slightly below average.

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during September 2007 in Morden was 20 Celsius (68F), and that was a fraction of a degree below average.  The average minimum temperature was 11 Celsius (52F), again, just a little below average. However, this was the coolest September since 2002. 

The highest temperature recorded  during the month was 24.6 Celsius (76F) on the 6th, and this was 1 of 13 days during the month when the maximum temperature exceeded 21 Celsius (70F). There were several cool days during the second half of September, and on the 26th,27th and 28th the maximum remained below 15 Celsius (59F). On the 26th, the high was only 13.4 Celsius (56F).  

There were no outstandingly warm nights during September, a feature observed during the preceding Summer, and the highest minimum,  occurring on the night of the 6th/7th, was 15.4 Celsius (60F). On 8 nights, the minimum fell below 8 Celsius (460F), and on the 30th the low was 5 Celsius (41F). 

Frost

No frost occurred during September but the grass minimum temperature on the morning of the 30th was 1.2 Celsius (34F).

Rain

This was a dry month with the 33 millimetres (1.3 inches) recorded only amounting to a little over 50% of the average. The early part of September continued the dry weather experienced during late August. Between the 24th August and the 17th September only 0.3 millimetres of rain fell.  After the 17th, only 3 completely dry days occurred, and on the 23rd over 14 millimetres (0.57 inches) of rain fell, the wettest day of the month. Nearly 13 millimetres (0.5 inches) of rain fell on the 28th, but the other 6 days when measurable rain fell all had totals below 3 millimetres (0.1 inches).

No thunderstorms occurred. 

Wind

Winds were generally gentle or moderate between southwest and northwest but with squally gusts to 27 knots (31mph) occurring on both the 23rd and 24th. During the last week,  winds became north or northeast, moderate or fresh at first, but becoming light or gentle during the last few days of the month.
