1907 Cool, especially during the Summer months

Weather Notes:-
31st March - The temperature rose to 23°C. near Peterborough (Cambridgeshire).
24th June - A Tropical Storm formed in the Atlantic and became the strongest storm of the 'Hurricane' season. However, not one storm in 1907 is know to have reached hurricane intensity.
27th/28th August - Minimum temperature of 1°C at Barnet (Greater London), one of the lowest August temperatures ever recorded within Greater London.
16th October - The City of Lincoln was flooded when 90mm of rain fell.

January - Very dry and sunny with below average temperatures.
The first half of the month was fairly mild and changeable. On the 1st, the maximum temperature was above 10°C,. and 6mm of rain was recorded. Although measurable rain fell on a further 9 days during January it was mostly light.. After mid month, it became drier and colder, but although there was plenty of sunshine, frost and some lingering fog occurred, as well as a little snow. On the 24th the temperature only reached minus 1.7°C., but on the 26th it was sunny all day.
February - Sunny, rather dry and cold.
There was a very cold start to the month, and the maximum temperature on the 3rd was only 0.9°C. It became milder at the end of the first week but the weather was changeable. On the 11th, over 10mm of rain fell. There were plenty of dry, sunny and rather cold days after mid month. The 20th was sunny all day, and it was also mild, with a maximum temperature near 11°C. During the last week of February there were some sharp overnight frosts.
March - Very sunny and dry with temperatures close to normal.
There were many mild and sunny days during this March, but also cold nights, some with frost.. During the second week it was cold at times by day. The maximum temperature on the 11th was only 6.4°C., but after a sharp frost on the following night it became milder and changeable. Over 5mm of rain fell on the 13th, but the 14th was sunny, and further sunny days occurred, especially late in the month. It became warm, too, and the temperature on the 31st exceeded 19°C.
April - Wet, rather cold and dull.
This was a changeable month with rain alternating with sunshine and showers, some of which were thundery. At the end of the first week the showers were wintry. There was no frost during the month but there were several days when the maximum was only around 10°C. The highest temperature on the 18th was only 7.8°C. During the last 10 days of April it was sunny at times, and the temperature on the 24th reached 21°C., but on the 26th over 19mm of rain fell.
May - Dull and rather cool with below average rainfall.
Although the 4th was a sunny day, there was generally a rather cool and unsettled start to the month. On the 7th over 9mm of rain were recorded. It became warmer during the second week, and the maximum temperature on the 12th exceeded 24°C. A thundery breakdown to the warm weather occurred on the following day and the third week of May was cool. After an early grass frost, the maximum temperature on the 20th was only 9.9°C. It then became a little warmer.
June - Cool, dull and wet.
June began with very poor weather. On the 1st, over 23mm of rain fell, and on the 3rd the temperature rose no higher than 12.9°C. It was slightly warmer for a while during the second week, and the afternoon high on the 9th was near 23°C. There were several dry days during June, but it was often rather cloudy. The 16th was a rare sunny day, but temperatures struggled to reached average, and there were further cool days during the rest of the month.
July - Cool and rather dry with near normal sunshine.
Winds from a northerly direction brought low temperatures for most of the month. The maximum on the 3rd was only 14.8°C. It was changeable at times, although there were several dry and bright days. During the third week of July there were a few warmer and sunnier days. On the 16th it was sunny all day, and on the 19th the maximum temperature approached 25°C. There were some thunderstorms on the 22nd, and almost 14mm of rain was recorded.
August - Cool and rather dry with slightly below normal sunshine..
Much of the month was fairly cloudy and rather changeable, although sunny periods early in the month, and again during the last week, helped to lift the sunshine total for August to only just under the average. There was a total absence of warm days, but on the 4th, the maximum temperature almost reached 24°C. The highest value on the 20th was only 15.9°C. Daily rainfall was mostly light through the month, but on the 15th over 11mm of rain was recorded.
September - Very dry with above normal sunshine and near average temperatures.
The first week of September was mostly rather cool, cloudy and changeable although amounts of rain were small. On the 1st, the maximum temperature was only 14.6°C., and on the 2nd over 5mm of rain fell. Measurable rain only fell on 8 days during September, and although nights were often rather chilly, days became rather warm. Some of the best weather of the year occurred late in September, and the maximum temperature on the 25th exceeded 25°C.
October - Wet with below average sunshine and temperature,
This was a very changeable month, and although mild at first it became generally cooler as the month progressed. On the 1st, the maximum temperature exceeded 18° C. It was sunny for most of the day on the 10yh, but measurable rain fell on all bar 6 days during the month, and on the the 14th, over 19mm of rain was recorded. There was some quite cold weather during the last week with grass frosts, and on the 27th the maximum temperature was only 9.5°C.
November - Dull with below average rainfall and near normal temperatures.
The month was changeable and often cloudy, but rainfall totals were mostly small. It was mild at times during the first 10 days, and the maximum temperature on the 9th was above 15°C. During the second week it became somewhat colder, and the temperature on the 11th only reached 5.8°C. After mid month there were a few slight frosts, but generally it remained rather cloudy and unsettled with temperatures close to average. On the 18th, over 18mm of rain fell.
December - Wet and rather sunny with above average temperatures.
Mucht of the month was mild and changeable with bands of rain alternating with dry and fairly sunny days. On the 5th it was sunny for most of the day, and on the 8th the temperature rose close to 14°C. On the 12th, over 33mm of rain was recorded, but after some bright, but colder, days with slight overnight frosts, the Christmas period became mild and damp. The last few days of the year were cold and cloudy, and the maximum temperature on the 30th was only 1.9°C.
